Mostly you see this in small town newspapers and company newsletters. “Once again it’s time for our annual…” This tried and true cliché is a real buzz kill. It promises that this year’s company party or Memorial Day parade will be just like last year’s.
Lead with the nifty stuff, you know, the stuff that interests the reader or listener. “Enjoy an open bar, costume contest and prizes at this year’s Halloween party.” If the event is not going to be exciting or fun, then rethink even having the event.
